Permission to Blog

Just begin.
That was the advice I was given on starting a blog. It won’t be perfect, but just begin.
So here I am, starting my blog.

Why?
I first thought about writing a blog as a way to connect with people about dance and creativity. To connect with people who want to give themselves permission to do more things in life. To push boundaries, explore, engage with other people, and learn from each other. This is my personal mission both in my life and my work; to give myself permission to live a more open and full life, without setting limitations. It’s my hope that this blog will encourage us all to be freer with ourselves.

Stronger together

I believe that people are most inspiring when they live their mission. Although I hadn’t realised it, I have already been doing this on a small scale. I invited a few friends to join my quest in completing the Artists’ Way book – a 12 week creative self-help course. We meet weekly and are currently on week 7 (the furthest I had managed alone was week 5). Proof that human support is powerful! Don’t get me wrong, it’s not like I am motivated 24/7, I do fluctuate, but having made the commitment to my friends to pursue this course, I am obliged to keep on arranging the weekly meetings. And this way we all progress.

Permission Blog
So this is my permission blog, and yours. Let’s permit ourselves to be braver, brighter, freer and truer; one fun step at a time.

How?
Go to that class you have eyeing up for weeks. Confirm a date in your diary for the friend you always promise to meet. Wear those colourful, patterned clothes! Anything that makes you smile inside, or even makes you a bit scared! It will be rewarding, you know it 😉

What will I do?
I am on the road to getting myself singing at an open mic night! (I used to sing a bit, but am so out of practice that it’s a tad scary to do it again) As i don’t play an instrument (yet) I have found a couple of lovely friends to play guitar with me. I shall be setting up a meeting/rehearsal soon. Watch this space to find out when I brave it. I may even post a clip….

What will you do?
I’d love to know what you get up to that thrills and pushes you!
Let me know in the comments below.

Till next time…
