It seems to me that whatever level we are on, we have a desire for progress, for more, to achieve the next level, to take the next steps. (Despite the common thinking of ‘when I get to level X, I will be content’)
And for a time I was seeing this as a negative; as ingrained societal ambition – the feeling of needing to achieve so we leave our stamp on the world – so we are remembered.
But perhaps it’s more innate, more simple. More pure? More human.
Perhaps we all have this need to take the next step, just to keep ourselves moving and alive, to not get stagnant and mouldy. To keep fresh and keep living.
Because I suspect that is what we are here for – to live. As fully as we can.
